Buket Gulbeyaz is a New York City-based actor. She was born and raised in Izmir, Turkey. Buket moved to New York after she received a BA with High Honors in Philosophy from Bogazici University. She has an MFA in Acting from The Actors Studio Drama School in New York.
Buket's New York theatre credits include House of Karen (Signature Theatre), Bee (HB Playwrights Theatre & HB Studio), and The Book of Liz (3 Legged Dog). Buket has originated several roles including Jason Lasky's Last Exit Before You're Off The Grid at the Secret Theatre as Marquette, leading woman in Berkay Ateş's Hak at the Celebration Barn Theater's Incubation Residency, and the Prisoner in The Uncounted (a site-specific devised performance piece).
International theatre credits include Pinocchio/Fairy/Mother in Pinocchio (Theater De NWE Vorst) in Tilburg, The Netherlands, Performer in You Look Good Today (Bin Bavul), Lysistrata and Women in Council (Bogazici University Players) in Istanbul, Turkey.
New York film credits include Immigreat, Stiff (directed by Gabrielle Pfeiffer), Sight , The Roar In The Sky and Ego.
Buket wrote and directed her first theatre play Habitat which made its Off-Broadway debut in April, 2017. Habitat was produced by 4th U Artivists which is the New York City-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to help end violence against women. 4th U began as a staunch supporter of Eve Ensler’s organization, and continue to donate to V-Day and One Billion Rising. Habitat is going to perform in different theatres in NYC over the fall.
In August 2018, Buket produced her first theatre play in HB Studio. After being staged in several cities in Europe and Turkey, HAK will be performed in English for the first time in New York City.
Buket is currently writing her second play in Turkish which is about a mother-daughter relationship.
